Yes. Customers must sign into a Google Account to post a Google review. They do not need a Gmail address. A Google Account can use an existing email address from another provider.
What happens after a tap or scan?
The sign opens your Google review link. Google then handles the review flow. Someone already signed in may be ready to write their review; someone signed out will need to sign in first. The screens can differ between phones, browsers and apps.
An NFC sign or QR code cannot remove Google's account requirement. It saves the customer from having to search for your business.
What can your team say?
Google may ask you to sign in first. There is no rush; you can come back to it when it suits you.
Give the customer space to use their own phone. Never ask for their password or try to sign in on their behalf. If they cannot remember their login, let them choose whether to return to the link later.
They have an email address, but no Google Account
They can create a Google Account using their existing email address. That is their choice. There is no need to turn a request for feedback into an account setup session.
Try both paths before you use your sign
Check the destination on a phone where you are signed in and in a separate signed-out browser. Confirm the correct business appears after sign-in, then stop before posting. This helps your team recognise a normal sign-in prompt.

We help people find your business and choose you.
Found Online builds websites and works on local SEO and Google Business Profiles. Your review sign is one part of that. If you want help with the rest, here is what we can do.
Your Google Business Profile
We review how your business appears, check the details and work on the services, information and customer journey that need attention.
Your local search visibility
We look at the services and places that matter to you, then work on the website pages and technical issues that affect how people find you.
Your website
We improve what you have or build a new site, with clear words, useful pages and a straightforward way for customers to get in touch.
How we work with you
- We look at your profile, website and what you want the business to achieve.
- We explain what needs attention and agree the work and cost with you.
- We make the agreed improvements. With ongoing SEO, we review progress and adjust the priorities.
Website and ongoing SEO services are available separately.
